How do I enable two-factor-authentication (2FA)?

New user

You have to setup one of the two-factor-authentication options when you register at LiteBit. The two options being: Authenticator app or SMS. Click here to learn more about 2FA if you are unfamiliar with the concept. 

At the end of the registration process you will be asked to complete the 2FA setup. Follow the instructions to enable either the authenticator app or SMS option. 

Existing user

If you are an existing user and you do not have any 2FA option enabled, you will be prompted to do so on your next login. Fill in your email and password as usual. From here you can follow the instructions to enable 2FA. You will be asked to enter your phone number as an extra verification. After phone verification you can choose which option you want to use as your 2FA method. It is highly advised to use an authenticator app, as this is considered a much safer option compared to SMS. 


Unfortunately, things may go wrong. We have listed a few common issues and fixes below:

Not receiving SMS

If you are not receiving any SMS, please wait a few minutes and make sure that the phone number you filled in is correct. It may take a while for some providers to process the SMS and send it to your phone. Try not to request a new code too soon, as this may trigger spam protection. If it takes longer than 15 minutes you can try to request a new code.

If that still does not work you may have to try again at a later time, as there may be a temporary outage. If you are not sure, you can contact Customer support. We can check if your provider bounced the SMS back to us. Please be aware that if that is the case, you will have to contact your provider to resolve the issue.

Authenticator code not working

If you are using an authenticator app, the code may not be working. Please make sure that you are entering the correct code. Your app may have 2FA codes from other sites or accounts. Use the one for LiteBit. If you ever reset your code, there may be two or more LiteBit codes in your app. You can delete the old code. The new code is usually on the bottom of the list, but make sure to doublecheck by logging in. 

Another reason for the code not working is that your phone or the authenticator app is out of sync. Most authenticator apps have a sync button in the settings menu. If that is not available, please make sure your device time is set to automatically sync.
